What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is an NDIS-funded support service designed to help participants with psychosocial disabilities take greater control of their lives and achieve their goals. Recovery Coaches work collaboratively with participants, their families, carers, and other services to:
Develop and implement personalised recovery plans.
Support participants in building skills to manage daily life and complex challenges.
Coordinate NDIS and other community support to meet individual goals.
A Peer Recovery Coach is a Recovery Coach who also has lived experience of mental illness and recovery, providing an additional perspective and shared understanding to support participants’ journeys.
What is Recovery?
Recovery can mean different things to different people. For many, it is about reaching personal goals, building supportive relationships, and developing the skills needed to lead a positive and fulfilling life, even if mental health challenges continue.
The NDIA defines recovery as:
Achieving an optimal state of personal, social, and emotional wellbeing
Being able to live a purposeful and meaningful life
