Alex

Director

Alex started working with people with a disability and mental health 18 years ago, supporting participants with a range of needs including working in the Intensive Behaviour Support Program. Alex worked for several years in Juvenile Detention Centres as a Youth Officer, and Drug Detection Security and Intelligence Officer. 

For the last 7 years, Alex has managed a large team of Support Coordinators and has been supporting participants in the NDIS since the roll out 7 years ago. Prior to this Alex was a caseworker and then Team Leader of the Intensive Family Support (IFSO) Program and Stay Connected program. Alex started Wellspace Australia with the intention to put “quality” as the key driving point. She listened to what NDIS participants had been requesting and decided to turn that dream into a reality. Alex has studied Positive Psychology, and continues to study self-development courses as she believes it's vital to always continue to grow and learn.

Alex is down to earth, caring and will go above and beyond for her participants and team.
 

Strengths

Caring, positive and has a great sense of humour.

 

Enjoys/Hobbies

Snowboarding, netball, travelling, camping, animals and her 2 beautiful dogs. 

Fun fact

Alex is qualified in energetic healing, coaching and laughter yoga.
 

Kara | General Manager

Kara Oliver has a background in finance and has worked across various organisations within the Disability sector. She has extensive knowledge of the NDIS, management and the development and implementation of best practice and processes to ensure her team and participants achieve greatness. 
 

Strengths

Kara is pragmatic, insightful, values building strong rapport, and has a great sense of humour.

Fun fact

Kara owns a blue surfboard and loves the beach!

 

Tina | service manager

Tina is a highly experienced manager, she has a degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Community Services Coordination and is an accredited trainer. Tina has been working for over 20 years in the community services sector specialising in mental health, employment services, training, counselling and coaching.

Strengths

Tina is insightful and compassionate and aims to help people empower themselves through a strengths-based approach. Passionate about helping people realise their full potential and find their own passion,  Facilitating learning, creating change and challenging people to reach their true potential are Tina’s passions.

 

Enjoys/Hobbies

Craft, being in nature., practicing mindfulness, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Fun fact

In her spare time Tina loves to make handcrafted cold processed artisan soap.

Charlotte | Service Manager

Charlotte has a long history working within the community services sector. She has been successful in leading organisations through the implementation and transition to the NDIS and continues to provide leadership to large teams associated with the Disability Sector. Charlotte excels at working through the challenges associated with supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and is highly passionate about supporting people to meet their goals. Charlotte is committed to building positive relationships with people to provide leadership, direction, and support.

Strengths

Charlotte is focused, highly knowledgeable, approachable, and caring. Charlotte provides leadership and vision to her team to assist in developing a workplace culture of best practice and open and transparent communication. She has a proven ability to cultivate strategic relationships with key stakeholders through the development of an innate understanding of the requirements outlined by the NDIS.

Enjoys/Hobbies

Charlotte has volunteered for several years in the community, providing community lunches and emergency relief. In her personal time, Charlotte enjoys Pilates and taking her dog to the beach.

Fun fact

Before coming to working in the community service sector, Charlotte owned a catering business for many years. She continues to hold a passion for food and can be found entertaining her friends most weekends!

Amie | Service Manager

Amie has a long history working in all aspects of the community services sector. From many years in direct supports and personal care, to disability employment and training, self-managed programs, accommodation supports and support coordination. She has lead organisations through the implementation and transition to the NDIS and managed large teams through organisational change. Amie’s strengths are working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges and is highly passionate about supporting people to meet and create the life they choose. Committed to advocating for the rights of people with disability and the support and development of the sector through positive leadership. 

 

Strengths

Amie is passionate, highly knowledgeable, and driven by personal experience. Her speciality is cultivating strategic relationships with key stakeholders through the development of an innate understanding of the requirements outlined by the NDIA.

 

Enjoys/Hobbies

Amie is an active member of her community, spending time with her extended network of family and friends. She enjoys dancing, hiking in the Blue Mountains and her gorgeous cats.

 

Fun Fact

Amie was a ballroom dancer as a child and appears as an extra in the movie “Strictly Ballroom.”

JULIO | Service Manager

Julio has extensive experience working within the NDIS sector, most recently serving within a senior leadership position, leading a team of highly skilled support coordinators nationwide. He has valuable experience delivering both standard and Specialist Support Coordination throughout all regions of NSW. Equipped with a Bachelor’s in Social Science and Master’s in Social Work, Julio has learnt to acknowledge and master the theories behind what he practices within his current profession.

 

Julio is currently undertaking his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), which will further provide the tools to critically identify and implement an effective balance of participant and provider partnership within the NDIS framework.

 

Strengths

Julio has developed effective time management, strategic communication, project coordination and leadership skills through personal, professional and higher education endeavours.

 

Enjoys/Hobbies

Julio loves travelling and makes it a routine to visit his cultural background location of South America at least once every four years.
